AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi, Day – 3

AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi, Day – 3

It came to an end yesterday. Oh no! I wanted to have more fun (:_:) But well, every good thing comes to an end sooner or later (like the summers here…….. It’s becoming cold (╹﹏╹) ).

So I reached late because I wanted to attend the Part 2 of Character Designing Workshop by Chris Solarski and Daizen Komatsuda san’s talk on Key Animation – Outlook and perspective. I was a little late for the second one.

Someone had asked Komatsuda san about sexual content in anime as he had been showing clips from Kill la Kill all three days, and such things, you can’t show at a place where small children might be present, openly, in India (I could hear giggling and smirking of people, not that young, all the time when that dress changing scene used to come in the clip (*´ο`*)=3). Someone had raised this question (before I reached there)

So Komatsuda san blew everybody’s mind (well well, it’s India) when he openly admitted that Kill la Kill is kind of alright because nipple couldn’t be seen. Moreover, in general anime, those kind of parts have to be hidden by light or hair or something else (as can be seen in echhi genre, quite frequently). He finished by saying, that he himself loves to draw people naked, both males and females (A creator’s mind works differently anyway)

Next he invited his listeners to get their portrait drawn by him (and I was sooooo jealous. Me and other people who got his autograph on the first day should have been enough! He had to go out of his way to draw like 100 more! (>.<) Well, yes I am sorry, but I am like that only). During this time, I interviewed one of the members of organizing team from CineDarbaar which I’ll post next.

Next was the part 2 of Chris Solarski. And he started with providing a review what he had taught earlier in part 1 for those who didn’t attend his workshop. He then taught about his character development process. That is something one should go and learn from his book, since I don’t become qualified to post it here or tell anybody. If you really want to know though, I can message you the notes I made out there, if you provide the email id or something in the comments below. But I am pretty sure, they’ll be useless to you anyway.

And then I became a wanderer with no aim because cosplay competition was to be held much much later. And I wasn’t in the mood to attend that (it was going to be late and all too). The last, most awesome thing I came across was this:

Cosplay 1, AnimeCon, New Delhi, 2014

I am sorry to all those who appear in this pic and won’t want it to be published on social platform but I have this as the most decent pic of this cosplay. And this one needs to be commended. This level, these details in India _/\_ Even the movements of this guy were robotic!

Other cosplays were also to be found (This includes pics from 2nd day cosplay too):

And thus, ended a fun filled three day event (Oh wait! I ended my last post like this too…. Hmmm…. Need an alternate ending).

And I went on my way, happily ever after with lots of good memories and stories to tell~ (Nah……)

Ah, yes! I got the perfect ending! After this event, my love and respect for humbleness and down to earth nature of Japanese people and their loyalty towards their nation, has increased hundredfold. My choice of following this culture was indeed “elite”. I am happy that I am fan of Japan 😀

Looking forward to AnimeCon next year with great anticipation!

AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi, Day-2

AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi, Day-2

Well yeah. Day -2 was actually yesterday, but I got the pics today only so I would be writing about it today. Yesterday I went with my friend, so it was more fun 🙂

We attended the game character designing workshop by Chris Solarski. It was actually part of the two installments, where he told us his process of designing game characters. The workshop was based on his famous book – Drawing Basics and Video Game Art: Classic to Cutting Edge Art Techniques for Winning Video Game Design. Chris actually takes inspiration from and combines techniques of classical arts with technology. Most importantly, he showed us how shapes affect the mentality of people and how cunningly, designers use it everywhere. He also told us the importance of volume while drawing.

Now this workshop was in the real sense a workshop because Chris took us through some exercises where he made us to follow the process he follows. We were provided with the sketch books, pencils, erasers and sharpeners sponsored by Pro Helvetia (Liasion office of the Swiss Arts Council in India). It was a good experience to go through the steps a pro follows.

Umm…. ok. This workshop went on longer than expected, so we kind of, missed a lot of talks. After this one, we directly attended the Panel Discussion on Future of Anime, Manga and Video Games business in India by Jiro Ishii san, Hiroaki Matsuura san and Mihara Ryotaro san which I have discussed in my earlier post. Other than this, we mostly went around buying manga and other merchandise again and awwing over the freebies I got with my Otaku Fan pass for the convention.

In the end, we attended the workshop by MEGA where he gave a talk over his history with illustrations and designing. It was quite similar to what he had presented in his workshop before.

Thus, came to an end, another fun filled day with a lot of lessons and a lot of inspiration from great people.

P.S.: I am going to post about the 3rd day tomorrow. With that, I have got a little interview I did with one of the member of organizers’ team which I’ll be posting very soon (otherwise I’ll forget what all she said, coz even after jotting down a lot of things remain in mind only). And also, a post is coming on what all anime fans who were in Delhi but didn’t go, missed out there and what could be better. Seems this week is busy after all!

Discussion: Future of Anime and Video Games in India – Key Takeaways

Discussion: Future of Anime and Video Games in India – Key Takeaways

AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi, Day-2. There was an interesting panel discussion by Jiro Ishii san, the game designer and director of acclaimed games like 999, 428: In a Blockaded Shibuya etc.; Hiroaki Matsuura san, the President; and CEO of Sanzigen and Mihara Ryotaro san, Senior Visiting Researcher of Keio Research Institute at SFC and Lecturer of School of Global Japanese Studies at Meiji University on the future of Japanese Anime and Video Games in India.

The discussion went on for about an hour, where Matsuura san basically discussed his expectations of India and his future plans, Ishii san told about his thoughts as a Japanese and Mihara san shared his perspective on general trend of anime, manga and video games throughout the world. It was supposed to be more business related but ultimately it came to general discussion.

Key Takeaways from the discussion are as follows:

1. According to Mihara san, Internet has a huge impact over anime and manga business. Since there is a lot of piracy and all, merchandising things is one of the ways to reduce the piracy and increase business.

2. Matsuura san said that he is very open minded about business practices in various countries and understands that there would be cultural and other differences everywhere. He is also very interested in knowing the animation practices from India (I so wish I had known about it) and other countries.

3.  Matsuura san also shared that he has been in talks with US animation companies for doing collaborations in future. US companies are also investing in the Japanese anime business. He also wished that Indians would also come forward to invest in anime ventures.

4. On being asked about less popularity of visual novel games outside Japan, Jiro Ishii san mentioned the cost and difficulty in translating the text to English as the main reasons.

5. On future projects to cater western audience specifically, Ishii san told that he is always trying to level up, working hard in making the content universal. According to him, gaming is already a globalized concept. He is also of the opinion that Indian landscape is close to the landscape of Japan (Yay!) 20-30 years back (Ouch! It hurts! But it’s not incorrect either…..)

Audience was also given a chance to ask questions from the panel.

1. Jiro Ishii san was asked if the Under The Dog would be able break the recent recycling of concepts of anime. He said that this project was a deliberate effort, so that the superficial team might beat the “army”.

2. On being asked about the lack of Live Actions (Ok, I am pretty sure, the guy who asked the question, didn’t watch Japanese dramas), Jiro Ishii san stated the big success of recent Rurouni Kenshin movie. He also said that many manga and anime fans are entering the film and drama industry, so there has been an increase in live action projects in last couple of years. He also showed concerns about publishers from famous manga publishing houses and magazines like Shueisha and Shounen Jump not being very enthusiastic about live action adaptations of manga they publish.

3. On the major question of 3D animes in the future, Matsuura san said that there is lot of potential out there for 3D, but 2D and 3D are nothing more than tools. In near future, 3D might be dominating the anime industry though.

In final comments, Mihara san expressed his pleasure to be present there and he also showed curiosity about the future of anime and manga in India. Matsuura san requested everybody to buy authentic merchandise than pirated ones. He said that he would like to see if Indians are willing to buy their products and if India provides a good market for their stuff or not.

In the end Ishii san called every fan of anime, manga and video games a “Cultural Elite” (a little jokingly) because we chose to follow Japanese culture. He also said that he would work hard to take everything at global level but it’s up to us, the cultural elites as well, to help them.

In summary, they all were very positive about the future of anime, manga and video games in India, but they did show their apprehensions about people switching to buy the authentic stuff.

PS – I’ll post the pics and reviews of 2nd day in my next post. I had jotted down the key points from this talk, so I had to share this with everyone in a separate post (^_^)

AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi, Day-1

AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi, Day-1

Yes, yes, yes!! Another anime festival, this time in India itself, that too New Delhi! And I got to meet some real legends there! I was waiting for this day from, I don’t know how much time. And day 1 itself was successful (●^o^●)

The day started with two sweaty guys in scorching heat, wrapping entry bands to the wrists of excited people (Ok, that was…….unexpected).

Inside, the preparations were still going on and the workshops got delayed a little.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The first workshop was a talk by popular illustrator from France – MEGA. He is such a sweet guy. The two lessons he taught us through his experiences are – Be Passionate and Be Humble. Also, one can easily tell from the content of a speaker, how much research has the person done, and man, to keep his audience engaged, he took Indian examples. Might be that Sachin Tendulkar is famous across the world, but anyway, his talk was entertaining.

On the top of that, he critiqued all the people’s work there. Not once he discouraged anyone. He is probably going to be busy tomorrow giving advice again to the works of people. He didn’t hesitate to provide his gmail address too. I am gonna add him on g+. And Gosh! There are so many talented people out there (not that I didn’t know that before)

MEGA, AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi

So where was I? Yeah, next workshop was works of Daizen Komatsuda himself. We were basically shown a clip of Kill la Kill and then how storyboard is drawn, how parts are animated from keyframes and all. He started by saying a few words in Hindi!! Interesting session! Then came questions and answers. I went to take autograph, but before that, Mr. Jiro Ishii caught my eyes.

Jiro Ishii san @ AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi

I was asked by a friend of mine to get his autograph too. Thank God, I did some research beforehand. He asked me if I really knew who he was and I shouldn’t take his autograph but Mr. Daizen Komatsuda’s. I did, for once give up and went to the line where people were standing to ask  Daizen Komatsuda san questions. But I again went to him. He again asked, “Me?”, this time in English. (I died of cuteness overload there (✖‿✖)) Then he questioned me if I knew his the most famous game. He signed it accordingly. And then photo! Yay!

As jolly as Jiro Ishii san looked, Daizen Komatsuda san seemed to be as conservative. I wish I knew who the third person was with them, I would’ve taken his autograph too. They were taking our pics in their cams too. Hope they keep mine one forever. Somehow, I was the first person to ask for the sign of everybody there. Daizen Komatsuda san started drawing my character with his pen. For the first 15 seconds I couldn’t even make what he was doing. But then people around started praising him and all and I got to know what he was actually doing. Then we took photos and yes, I bought a lot of manga for my friends.

Daizen Komatsuda san @ AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi

In the end, before I left, the last talk I attended was on very intriguing topic – Garo magazine by Dr. Ryan Holmberg. This one needs some elaboration actually. Dr. Ryan talked about Garo’s birth and recent demise and touched upon the history of manga, especially the ones which were more related to life in Japan and such.

Dr. Ryan Holmberg @ AnimeCon 2014, New Delhi

The whole environment is good and the volunteers are very helpful. Indian animecon hasn’t grown to that level yet that there are a lot of stalls or a lot of things related to Japanese culture are there. But for a person who has never seen a manga in real life (read: most of the Indian manga fans before the introduction of translated manga by e-tailers recently), it is indeed a heaven of three days.

I was actually expecting a little more in terms of food and all, but given that they’re organizing it for the fifth time only, and I haven’t attended the last ones and The tickets are pretty reasonable and the guests, (I don’t think, you can get a better lot than that. It’s a huge achievement!), I don’t want to complain. There are still two days left, so hopefully, it improves a bit.

With that, looking forward to next two days……….

PS – Ok, I just realized that the pics are too big in size. For now, please bear with me. I’ll upload the smaller print as soon as possible.

Everything Japanese 1: Macha Latte

Everything Japanese 1: Macha Latte

Ok, this is actually a long due post and I finally got to write about it because there have been some additions to the things I was planning for my original post.

As I have described earlier (by earlier I mean waaaaay earlier – almost 1 year back), I had a six month internship in Thailand. Towards its end, my mentor got to go to Japan and she bought a lot of おみあげ (souvenirs) with her. We had a lot of eatables and then I got a Japanese Manga – Gash Bell Vol 2. Well, I actually wanted something to read in Japanese (I haven’t completed even one page from it yet, no actually I did finish translating the first page the other day) but I was happy that my collection started. And then I clicked pics of each and everything I ate.

And now, I met my language exchange partner face to face some time back. She had come to India on a trip. And she got me real good gifts from there including Shingeki No Kyojin’s volume 1. Not to mention macha products (No matter what, I love macha) and a kanji practice brush. うれしいです。(^_^)

This time I’ll start with the newer products (I am too lazy to go find the old photos). So here is my macha latte. The box she gifted me was Maxim Macha Sticks and the box contained four packets (or sticks as they call it). The instructions on the packet (as told by my friend) tell you to make either hot or cold macha.

Maxim Macha Stick

I made hot one today and for that, I had to mix around 160 ml of boiled water in the green tea powder. Best part, no sugar or anything else required. If it isn’t diluted too much, one doesn’t need sugar. Just put the powder in the cup and pour the hot water over it. Stir it and it’s ready.

I would like to try it with milk next time and cold one too. Guess I have exact number of sticks I would require for the permutations and combinations with both of them.

Macha Latte

Anyways, this was just a quick post to tell that I am not dead (#×_×)

Side Story 1: Yeah yeah, I know. I am kind of sooo busy that I don’t even have time to watch my favorite anime anymore. This weekend was one of those where I didn’t have anything to do and was a little relaxed. Then I realized, It’s been almost two months since I wrote anything!

Side Story 2: I so want to study right now. But again, I get so tired that I take everything lite and go to sleep. I have a lot on my plate but you know, there is no space in my stomach to accommodate it (I guess it was a bad attempt at a joke)

That’s it for today folks! I hope I’ll come back soon ( ̄▼ ̄)

First Japanese Language Exchange Of My Life

First Japanese Language Exchange Of My Life

Yeah, I had a proper language exchange session for the first time in my life for Japanese and it was a BIG FAIL for me. Not in the sense that I didn’t get to learn anything but in the sense that the person before me spoke such good Hindi and here I was, struggling to find words. I couldn’t even properly introduce myself because I didn’t realize that I had already graduated and I needed to change those mugged up lines.

Damn! (ˇ_ˇ’!l)

Overall experience was good though. My partner’s Hindi pronunciation is so good and her writing too! I was so impressed and amazed. And she was so supportive, consoling me and giving me reasons why I shouldn’t apologize to her and it is my first time actually speaking Japanese. Oh my! (。。;)\(-_-)

But I still feel that I wasted her time. (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Moreover this internet! Things have to create a problem for me no matter what. Had the internet not gone down, my laptop would’ve done something. \(`0´)/

Anyways, I will take a lesson, and study more. Not remain in my dreamland where I know everything (at least more than other people). (ᗒᗣᗕ)

And I still need to find ways in which one can make a language exchange useful. For today, we talked about ourselves (I couldn’t tell her much though) and we have decided our next topic to be our favorite movie. Hmm, that doesn’t seem enough though. If you know some better way to make the best out of such sessions, please comment below.

Today’s song: Well, I haven’t posted any images for quite long, and I like this new song, I am going to post this today!

JLPT 2014 – After Thoughts

JLPT 2014 – After Thoughts

So finally, I finished my JLPT N5 today. Yay! (^_^)

And I found my weaknesses and my strengths through the exam. It was totally worth it even if it was “mere” N5. I’ll go section by section but obviously I can’t tell the questions.

Vocabulary: The 25 minutes section was the first one and contained 32 questions I think (Not very sure but the number was in 30s). Now, when I saw the answer sheet mentioning the number of questions, I panicked! That meant less than one minute for each question including the marking time. But this, kind of led me to finish the section on time.

The most enjoyable portion I found here was Kanji. I was always clueless as to how to learn Kanji but guess everyday reviews really help a lot. I’ll recommend an app called JLPT N5 by V-Next Software which helped me a lot apart from the regular flash cards practice or studying from lists. I would take the Kanji test every morning just after I wake up  And in three weeks, it did wonders! I’ll review it in my next post.

The types of questions? Hmm… I don’t remember much but I do remember that there were four or five questions which had parts making a total of 32 problems. One of the questions was to replace Kanji with their readings according to the sentences.

Reading and grammar: My weakest section! I didn’t know a lot of words in the questions and could think of them from context or my intuition developed from watching anime. There were a lot of times when I would read a sentence to fill in the blanks with all the options and something would click in my mind that I had heard the type of sentence before.

Anyways, there were 35 problems in all which included particle filling in the blanks, replacing a part of the sentence with similar meaning phrase, assembling the options to form a meaningful sentence and then marking a part of it and comprehensions and the time allotted was 50 minutes.

Comprehensions were a little tough considering that they were lengthy but only one or two questions were asked. (They actually had a page long paragraph and only one question was asked of it! ( ̄□ ̄;))

The number of questions were less but it takes time to form a meaningful sentence from the options and read the whole passage to find that one useful info you need to solve the question. I still need to improve this.

Listening: For me, it was a breeze! I finally can say that those four years weren’t a waste. I adapted myself to listening to Japanese! I was so happy when they were calling the practice questions before beginning of each question, the sir in my class had to tell others that it was practice whereas I knew what they were saying. Moreover, the speed was quite slow for me, might be suitable for a total beginner who doesn’t get involved much in hearing Japanese.

And for this section, you just need to listen carefully, nothing else, and mark the answers as soon as possible. The audios aren’t repeated even once so if a question is gone, it’s gone! Ah! This section had four type of questions with parts ahead which would make around 22-25 questions in 30 minutes.

Other things: I had no idea that the test would be full 3hrs test. Yup, you read right! There were breaks in between the sections and that would make the test, a full 3 hours exam. Not to mention the time before the exam for finding and arranging the seats and all.

After thoughts: it was probably the first time that I appeared for an exam without any worry or pressure. When reaching the venue, I was a little nervous, but once I occupied my seat, I was completely relaxed. After all it was just for me and by my will. And I had nothing to lose. Even if I don’t pass, I have no regrets now. And it did motivate me, a lot. Now I can start with the next level and more revisions for this levelヽ(★ω★)ノ .

The people were from all age groups from 12 years old to probably 40 years old. The arrangement was good and the teachers were very helpful. they took care of everything, especially listening section. Otherwise who tells when the questions are starting and when is mike testing going on?

I remembered one more thing. I desperately need a speaking partner. I do have a lot of Japanese friends but no one has yet agreed to speaking exercises. Today, every class had a Japanese person too to watch over the examinees. When my classroom’s sensei asked me if I had been to Japan, first of all, I was taken by surprise. We were three people in the class and I was unable to answer her. I stuttered! I understood what she was saying the moment she spoke but even then I asked her to repeat her question. So embarrassed (*/□\*).

So if someone out there is learning Hindi and is native Japanese and wants a speaking partner, please, please comment in the box below or contact me through the means provided on the blog. I would be very very thankful. I need to take my speaking skills to next level too, though JLPT doesn’t test it!

10 Days Before My 1st JLPT Ever – Thoughts

10 Days Before My 1st JLPT Ever – Thoughts

Alright. Now is the time to analyse where I stand after so many years of passive learning and mere days of active Japanese learning.

I have always been apprehensive about my studying techniques. And I have read a lot of blogs regarding the same. Everybody says a different thing. Obviously it’s what suits them the best. And after reading many a times, I have reached exactly the same conclusion, there is no best technique at all (not that I am qualified enough to say that (^_^)).

My study techniques have involved flash cards making and flash card apps, revising the lists, practise writing, taking quizzes through various apps, one word a day apps etc etc and of course, watching hours and hours of anime and drama. The extensive use of some apps have been very useful! (I’ll review some of them in the near future)

After everything, I have come to know that there are a lot of things which are beyond N5 and I know them. Sometimes, I would see a kanji in my dictionary and lo, I know it because I saw it in the OP of some anime. Whereas, there are a lot of N5 vocabulary that i still don’t know. I might have heard the word but I don’t know the meaning or I might not have heard it at all. Or I might know the meaning of certain kanji but I might not know it’s Japanese pronunciation.

And I don’t know about you but for me these two things have been very important till now (which I discovered very recently ( ̄□ ̄;)). First, if I learn some new word and I hear it the same day or subsequent days in some anime, it gives me ultimate happiness. “Oh! I just learnt that word and it means this~ Great!” That leaves a very deep impression and I won’t forget the word, ever (Yeah, it keeps ringing in my head, for like a whole day! (☉__☉”)).

Second, people talk about learning vocabulary by associating them with something related. For me, even if it’s unrelated and I think of something to associate the word with, it works for me. I’ll give an example: “しんせつ” (shinsetsu) in Japanese means kind, gentle. First thing that came to my mind was “shin” the part of the body (I don’t know why. Please don’t judge me on that (#/。\#)). Now it has nothing to do with kindness but whenever I try to remember this word, my mind automatically goes to shin, kind, shinsetsu. I know it’s a lol thing but works fine for me (I do hope this will resonate with some people out there).

Anyways, I need to practice a lot more before I appear for the test in these 10 days. On a side note, I would like to tell all those people who think taking N5 is futile just because it won’t be accepted anywhere in Japan and it’s funny to appear for it. Please! There are a lot more people out there who get motivated by these things which appear funny to you. Don’t take that from them. Even I needed to start somewhere. I chose N5 not because I want to prove someone, but I need to test myself and see where I stand and what I need to do next.

I very well understand, N5 won’t take me anywhere in Japan, but there is something beyond finding jobs with my JLPT certification and I want to achieve that – the satisfaction of learning the language myself and testing myself. (Yes, yes. I got flustered after I saw people dropping the idea of appearing for N5 just because other people said it was super easy and not worth it. What does that make me? o┤*`□´ *├o)

Whatever, I’ll stop my rant here for today ! I so wanted to upload pics of my kanji practice notebooks. Guess, I have become a pretty notebooks buff too after reading so many blog posts of fellow bloggers using various stationery. But this room of mine and my sister’s is such a big mess, that I don’t know where they would be right now. Oh, well! I’ll do it some other day.

Travel: The Beautiful Hill Station in the Scorching Heat: Shimla

Travel: The Beautiful Hill Station in the Scorching Heat: Shimla

So, I’ve just returned from a two days weekend vacation in Shimla and it was a great relief from the high temperatures at my place (though we’re back here and there is no sign of rains (<_>))

I brought some pics:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As beautiful as the valleys were, the roads were as curvy. Even a normal person, who doesn’t get motion sickness shouldn’t eat anything before travelling on these roads. Rest is awesome!

I forget a lot of things (including my camera’s charger with zero battery! Yup, that’s me (#/。\#)). So I had to use my phone’s not so good cam. Best thing on the whole trip was visiting Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. Awesome building and very rich history associated with it. Not to mention 100,000+ books in their library (*¬*)). The design of the building and intricacy are totally fascinating!

Here are some pics:

Bloglovin’ and a little update

Bloglovin’ and a little update

Umm, ok just trying Bloglovin’. Need to paste this link – Follow my blog with Bloglovin

No, this is actually an excuse. I am frustrated, really frustrated! I am not getting time to write or do anything else. I had so many dreams regarding these holidays before I start my work. And I need space to vent it out. I did that last year too.

I am in a state of utter confusion. And I am very very busy. I was happy that unlike many people who once make a blog and then abandon it (do you see it’s pain eh? eh?) my blog is being updated regularly. But now I have become one of those very people. Nooooo

Sorry
I am very sorry my dear blog TT_TT

So, anyways, the time for my monthly post is drawing near. I need to complete that too. And I am excited about my first JLPT exam which is in around 3 weeks, though I haven’t been studying for it much lately and I am actually not very confident. But I so hope that I somehow, miraculously, start preparing for it.

Why am I spouting non sense? But because now I have written a few words, I am feeling good. After so long….. ❤

Healing
I am healing!!!

Never knew this became that kind of passion for me (^_^) I am hapi desu~

Next post – Part 2 of my monthly series

Farewells and Exams and Final days

Farewells and Exams and Final days

“Yo b****es! I’m back!” (Just Kidding)

After a long break of one month, I am back. It’s farewell time here, farewell to the place where I stayed for 4 years, farewell to people whom I got to know and make great friends with, farewell to a phase of my life and most importantly, farewell to downloaders and easily available anime episodes on DC 。・゚゚・(>д<)・゚゚・。

And in the mean time, I have added 50+ anime to my list. Bwahahaha, my speed! ( ̄▼ ̄) And many are on my plan to watch list. I was able to get hands on a lot of good series. I’m sure I would be writing about them soon. That reminds me, this season’s anime line up is too good. I am liking most of the anime and I am always looking forward to the episodes (though I know they’ll come on saturday or sunday or monday lol)

But my language studies went in a slump, same as my will to write. I mean I haven’t even finished with my Thailand’s journey (-_-*). Not that it has come back, but I am writing now because I should. 1 year back when I started writing, I was just writing for my sake. Then, sometime later it became a task – not fair. Now, I am a little refreshed and I have a lot of material to talk about which includes anime and anime.

That again reminds me, we formed a small anime group in my college. Anime club was a dream which couldn’t be fulfilled. It’s nice to meet new people though who have same interest as me, at the end of the semester, talk about anime and have dinner. But the clashing schedules posed a lot of difficulties. After so many cancellations and reschedulings, we finally met… Finally, a small custom kind of thing from past two years…. I hope the juniors continue it after we’re gone.

So, anyway, I was thinking of doing a monthly post on “Why anime is not for kids only” starting from tomorrow. The main motivation is that a lot of people either think that they are just cartoons meant for small kids or stop after watching death note because that becomes the ultimate story for them, anything else unable to surpass it (which actually frustrates me a lot (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ I mean, are we anime lovers stupid or something, devoting our time to other anime if death note is the end? Not against the anime though, people do find it really different than what they usually watch. But so are the others… that nobody understands.)

Oh, yeah! I was talking about last days in my college. 2 days left and I’ll be out. These carefree days will be gone. And I’ll step into reality, from which I was running away till now, hiding in the 2D world. I won’t be able to do it anymore…….

Today’s song – This song has been on my playlist for quite sometime. And the name is so suitable –

And My Blog Turns ONE!

And My Blog Turns ONE!

Happy birthday to my blog! I am glad I am able to maintain it and am still writing though my schedule has always been random. And thank you to everyone who has supported me till now. Please support me in the future too.

About the past year – Reflecting on the last year, there were a lot of changes in my East Asian loving life. I got to experience a country which was a mixture of all the cultures I am fan of. I will call the last year as the most fulfilling year of my college life. Otherwise, I had lost hope with respect to my dreams. There were additions to fan girling not only from South korea and Japan but Thailand too.

Last year was a year of discovery of lost resolves and passions and taking some great decisions and making some great friends too. And I am very happy with my progress. Thanks to all the people who joined me on my journey and helped me out there.

About the recent happenings – Well as I told in my last post, I went to my home for around 9 days and I haven’t been able to come back to my normal life, thanks to the messy food of the mess and the high temperatures in Pilani. It’s so sleepy all around in the afternoon.

On the other hand, I don’t know, but I have become too hungry for good anime and all I keep doing is trying the ones which I once deemed not good enough after reading the plots and asking people for anime recommendations. I have started covering two series in a row, in one day sometimes. Now I realize, I have lost the patience to read manga too.

I am trying with Japanese novels (translated to English) and I got a book from library on Anthology of Japanese literature. I hope I finish them soon. And I started writing for a website too. The topic I chose was anime and manga reviews again since they didn’t have anything related to it before I started. It’s getting a little tiresome though, to be honest.

Not to mention, I am getting tired of people who, when hear anime, only talk about the mainstream ones – Naruto, Bleach, DeathNote, One Piece, Fairy Tail etc. I am not saying that these are not anime or I dislike them. I know they’re the ones that generally introduce people to the world of anime but anime are far more advanced and varied. To use just these names and then say that you’re anime fan, I personally, don’t approve of it. EITHER say you JUST like the series OR watch some MORE anime before claiming you love ANIME!

I must add, that I am still inexperienced even after watching 300+ anime series and movies in last four years compared to the real hardcore fans out there…… Coz coz, when I ask someone for anime recommendation, I get to know that I haven’t watched 5+ series out of 10 being recommended, till that time, just because I won’t like the plot after reading it. But the fact that the recommending person has watched them and I don’t know about them, makes me mad!!!

About the future plans – I was going to make a page listing all the anime I have watched. I got this idea from a Korean lover’s blog I followed recently. Hmmm…. the list will become too long then. But I need to list them somewhere, at least. That reminds me, Fairy tail has started again. 1st episode with subtitles was released yesterday only. I am not a big fan of long running series. since they tend to be full of fillers but fairy tail was stopped at a very crucial point. And the secret of Dragons is coming out too, slowly.

I am thinking of making a page for different pics like a Thailand gallery may be, so that the people who are just interested in seeing the pics and not reading the posts may refer to there directly.

What else? Oh, my language learning, of course. I have decided to take a small break from Korean as of now. Since I am taking JLPT this July, I want to focus on Japanese till the time I get confident enough for passing N5. I’ll keep working for the vocabulary part for Korean though. Actually my Korean study wasn’t going that good anyway apart from the vocab.

I think I have rambled enough for today. Subsequently, I am gonna write about the anime I have watched. A lot of reviews are to come soon (probably)….

Today’s song – I actually like the Chinese version better for the song –
